It’s nearly 20 years since the Ipswich Town last beat Norwich City at Carrow Road in the East Anglian derby. Ross Halls takes a look at where the team from that game are now...

The Blues won the match 2-1 on February 5, 2006, thanks to goals from Jimmy Juan and Danny Haynes, the latter of whom scored in the 88th minute to claim all three points.

LEWIS PRICE

The Welshman was the club's first-choice goalkeeper and made 75 appearances during his spell at Town before leaving to join Derby County in the summer of 2007.

Price is currently the goalkeeping coach at League One side Oxford United, having spent time coaching at Milton Keynes Dons and Bournemouth under-21's after retiring from football in 2020.

RICHARD NAYLOR 

The academy graduate made close to 400 appearances for the club and finished his career after spells at Leeds United, Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham United. 

Naylor is now the academy chief at Hull City.

FABIAN WILNIS

The Dutchman spent close to ten years at Town, making over 300 appearances. He retired from football after a season at non-league side Grays Athletic in 2009. 

Wilnis is back in the Netherlands, but he recently returned to Portman Road after he was inducted into the Ipswich Town Hall of Fame class of 2024. 

MATT RICHARDS

The academy graduate made over 150 appearances for the Blues before leaving the club to join Walsall in the summer of 2009. 

Richards went on to have spells at Shrewsbury Town, Cheltenham Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Bath City and Banbury United before retiring from football in 2019.

JASON DE VOS

The Canadian was captain on the day and made 179 appearances for Town in total, scoring 11 goals. He decided to hang up his boots in 2008. 

De Vos is now the Director of Development and Interim General Secretary at Canada Soccer, who are co-hosting the 2026 World Cup.

GAVIN WILLIAMS

The Welshman only lasted 25 minutes in this game after he suffering an injury. In total, he made just over 50 appearances for Town before joining Bristol City in 2008. 

Williams had spells at Yeovil Town, Bristol Rovers, Woking before becoming manager of Welsh club Merthyr Town in 2016, although he left that role in January 2021.

DANNY HAYNES

The forward came on for Williams in the first half and went on to score the winner. He would later be called the 'Canary Crusher' for his goals against Norwich over the years.

Haynes scored 20 goals in 128 games during his time at Portman Road and finished playing in 2018.

OWEN GARVAN

The Irishman was making his breakthrough at Town in this season and went on to make over 150 appearances for them.

Garvan left to join Crystal Palace in 2010, and he went on to play for Colchester United and St Patrick's Athletic returning to his native Ireland in 2017.

JIMMY JUAN

The Frenchman was on loan at Town from AS Monaco and scored the equaliser in this game with a free-kick, which was deflected off Jonatan Johansson in the wall.

Juan made 36 appearances for Town before joining Grenoble, but he did return to England to have a brief spell at Chesterfield during the 2011/12 season. He finished his career back in France with Chamois Niortais.

SCOTT BARRON

The academy graduate made 17 appearances, with most of them coming in this season before he departed the club to join Millwall in 2007. He finished his career at Brentford. 

Since retiring in 2014, Barron has run sports management company Refuel Performance Management.

DARREN CURRIE

The midfielder played over 100 games for Ipswich before he left to join Luton Town in the summer of 2007. He finished his playing career in 2012. 

Currie is currently the assistant head coach to Kevin Maher at National League side Southend United, having previously been the manager at Barnet. 

ALAN LEE

The Irishman had only joined the club a month prior and went on to score 34 goals in 110 games before signing for Crystal Palace in 2008. He returned to Ipswich in 2013, but he retired from football at the end of the season.

Lee is now the director of football at Suffolk non-league side Bury Town and is an independent financial advisor who also works at Culford School.
