Barnsley winger attracting interest from Championship and Scottish clubs

Barnsley winger Ryan Hedges is attracting interest from Championship and Scottish Premiership sides.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season with the Tykes and is being targeted by other clubs, according to a report by HITC Sport.

Hedges has played 19 games in all competitions for Daniel Stendel’s Barnsley this season in League One and has chipped in with one goal.

He joined the Tykes in January 2017 and has since played over 50 games for the South Yorkshire side. He couldn’t prevent them from relegation from the Championship last season but is hoping to play his part in an immediate return there in this campaign.

Hedges started his career at Everton and rose through the youth ranks at Goodison Park as a youngster before being released in 2010. He joined Welsh side Flint Town United shortly after and impressed for them in the Cymru Alliance League.

The Northampton-born winger earned a move to Swansea City in 2013. He never made a senior appearance for the Swans but enjoyed gaining first-team experience during loan spells at Leyton Orient, Stevenage and Yeovil Town.

Hedges’ permanent move to Barnsley in 2017 has worked out for him but he could be set for another move this summer. This is a story to keep an eye on between now and the end of the season.
